How can a city be planned effectively and sustainably? A new study focuses on land suitability analysis for urban development in Bratislava – with an emphasis on housing, production and storage, civic amenities, leisure activities, and urban greenery.
Using the Urban Planner methodology, the authors combine multicriteria analysis with scenario modeling that incorporates spatial and legislative constraints. The results show that highly suitable areas are limited, and nearly one-third of the city is completely restricted from new development.
The study outputs five thematic maps, providing a clear overview of development potential and supporting more targeted investment and strategic decisions for Bratislava’s future.
