The key themes of the ENGAGEgreen project (Enhancing Institutional Capacities and Researchers’ Competences for Policy Engagement for Green and Digital Transitions) are also the policy priorities of the European Commission: environment, climate change and digital transitions. The ENGAGEgreen project aims to establish the transfer of scientific knowledge in these areas into policy-making as a common practice at the partner universities. In the first phase of the project, new local matching schemes will be implemented to enable project partners to share practices, tools and methods for collaboration with public policy makers. Subsequently, practical skills training will be implemented not only for researchers but also for students and project managers. The main output of the project will be the Virtual Policy Engagement Toolkit, a methodology for working with policy makers, which will be available online in open access mode. This methodology will not be limited to the topics addressed by the project, but will be applicable to any discipline. The know-how developed and shared will then have an impact at university level by leading to a systematisation of cooperation with public administration in the long term.
