Microcapsule Maps
How to create and print the materials

These tactile maps and graphics were produced using microcapsule paper and fuser technology due to their convenience and low reproduction costs. To create these maps, you will need microcapsule paper and access to a fuser. First, download the maps and print them on microcapsule paper using any printer, though the printer should use black carbon-based ink; using an Inkjet printer is generally recommended for best results. After printing, pass the page through the fuser set to medium heat. The black ink areas will swell and rise, forming a tactile graphic.
