Summary

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to test and to compare two pairs of software for usage in postprocessing. First couple includes Trimble Terra Sync software and Trimble GPS Pathfinder Office software. The second couple includes two extensions for ESRI products, Trimble GPScorrect extension for ESRI ArcPad and Trimble GPS Analyst extension for ESRI ArcGIS Desktop.
Process of mapping consists of preparation at the office, field work and postprocessing itself. For the field work was used Trimble Recon with GPS Pathfinder XC receiver. Field crew logged following elements of landscape: points (trees, benches, litter bins, signs and lamps), lines (paths and bushes) and polygons (playgrounds).
There are two main results of this bachelor thesis. The first one is a comparative table, where an interested person can find all important pros and contras to each of programs. The second one is a series of maps supported by data tables. There are maps without any correction and also postprocessed maps with two types of correction, standard RINEX and virtual RINEX. Tables contain comparison of dilutions between uncorrected GPS data and one of those types of corrected data.
The first pair of software (TerraSync and GPS Pathfinder Office) has a friendlier environment, which is easier and more intuitive for use then the second pair of extensions (GPScorrect and GPS Analyst). The second one is better for users owning a licence and using ESRI software. With those extensions, they don't need to adapt to another application environment.
